INTERLIBRARY LOAN
Frequently Asked Questions
|
1. Does this service replace the statewide courier service?
No, COKAMO is an add-on service to the Colorado Library Courier. COKAMO specifically refers to delivery of materials to participating Missouri and Kansas libraries through the Colorado Library Courier instead of by US Mail.
2. When can my library start using COKAMO?
Your library may use COKAMO for interlibrary loan delivery starting TODAY!
3. Is there a cost involved?
No additional cost is involved. COKAMO
is part of your Colorado Library Courier service.
4. Do both the sender and receiver have to be COKAMO members?
Yes, as a member of the Colorado Library Courier you may use COKAMO to send material to any participating Missouri or Kansas library. Please verify participation on the Missouri and Kansas Participating Libraries.
5. Does COKAMO replace No Stop?
No, it is an add-on service of the Colorado Library Courier. You may return borrowed items received through No Stop. Using COKAMO allows you to save money on postage.
6. Do I still have to pay for No Stop
Yes, the fee is to process your request, not for delivery.
7. May I order directly from Missouri and Kansas libraries participating in COKAMO?
No, you need to order through No Stop if you do not have OCLC service.
8. Do I need to count COKAMO usage?
Yes, you will be asked to record the interlibrary loans you return to Missouri or Kansas libraries participating in COKAMO on the agreement you fill out each year with the Colorado Library Courier. Please print and track usage on the Sample ILL tracking form.
9. Is COKAMO labeling and packaging different from material sent to a Colorado library?
Yes, a full US Mail address on a Courier slip with a COKAMO designation is required; please refer to the Labeling Instructions. Packaging remains the same.
10. Do I put the COKAMO materials in my regular courier tote?
Yes.
11. Will COKAMO save my library money?
Yes, given the average one-way interlibrary loan shipment costs $4.00, COKAMO is expected to save Colorado libraries $125,000 the first year. As more items move between the three states (via the courier rather than US Mail), the costs savings should increase.
Note: OCLC libraries should join COKAMO’s Reciprocal Borrowing Program
