Welcome to the Reference 101 Tutorial!

Reference Interview (part 1) Reference Resources (part 2)

This tutorial was designed to give the new library staff member or anyone looking for a refresher a brief overview of what goes into a good reference interview and what reference resources are available in your library or through the Internet.

The tutorial itself runs about 25 minutes. This does not include for the time you will spend looking at resources in your library or on the Internet. In order to get the most benefit from taking the tutorial, you will need to complete the print and Internet activities. The tutorial does not need to be completed in a single session. This will be explained once you start the tutorial.

Part one of the tutorial covers the reference interview. The second is devoted to learning and understanding the resources in your library.

With a Broadband internet connection (recommended) each segment will load in 1-2 minutes. If you have a slower connection you may contact the CLiC office to receive a CD version (Colorado Libraries Only) that you can load on your computer.
