Colorado State Library Fall Youth Services Workshop – Colorado Springs

Please join state library youth services staff for a very interactive day of exploration, learning, idea exchange, and networking! We’ll explore the why’s and how’s of summer programs, the 2020 summer theme of Imagine Your Story (fairy/folk tales, fantasy, mythology), the many improvements to the Collaborative Summer Library Program and the manual, and why and how to seek input from your community when planning your summer program (and all your youth services programming). The Growing Readers Together Expansion Team will present approaches for building relationships with special populations through really knowing your audience, connecting with community organizations,  dreaming big, and inspiring change. Following that, an interactive session will give you ideas to demonstrate easy ways to engage our youngest library patrons and their caregivers, whether parents, grandparents, or teen baby-sitters, and help you with talking points about how libraries empower and support life-long learning and growth.

PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is being held in the visitors center at Cheyenne Mountain State Park, room 410 JL Ranch Heights. There will be no charge to enter Cheyenne Mountain State Park and parking at the visitors center will also be free.
